(WMC-TV) - Voters in Mississippi will face a tough decision on November 8, after the Mississippi Supreme Court decided to place Amendment 26 on the 2011 general election ballot.
Tuesday, Les Riley with Personhood Mississippi - the group running the campaign to pass the amendment - said Amendment 26 would criminalize abortions, with no exceptions, by giving rights to fetuses.
"God has determined and science has confirmed that a person is a person no matter how small," Riley said Tuesday
According to the Amendment, "the term 'person' or 'persons' shall include every human being from the moment of fertilization, cloning, or the functional equivalent thereof."
While the new amendment comes on the heels of a report that shows teen pregnancy is a major problem in Mississippi, it has had it's share of controversy among some residents who are opposed to the proposal.
