OLIVE BRANCH, MS (WMC-TV) - Two new public schools opened Thursday in northern Mississippi's fast-growing DeSoto County.
Students filled the classrooms Thursday for the first day of the academic year at Lewisburg Primary School and Lake Cormorant High School. They are the 38th and 39th schools in DeSoto County.
In addition to the new facility, which includes a performing arts center and two new computer labs, the new Lake Cormorant school is also home to the first female high school principal in the district. Rhonda Guice is ready and up to the challenge.
