Chick-fil-a to host 'Safe Kid's Night'

Kids have the chance to prepare for a safe summer at Chick-fil-A Kid's Night this Tuesday, April 16.

Southaven police will conduct Safe Kids Finger Printing at Chick-fil-A Southaven.

Ms. Nettie will also be assisting children in making police puppets.

From 6 to 8 p.m., kids eat free with the purchase of every combo meal while participating in the Safe Kids events.

This is exclusive to Chick-fil-A Southaven located at 235 Goodman Road.

First child advocacy center opens in DeSoto County

The official grand opening of the new Child Advocacy Center in Southaven, Mississippi was Friday.

This new facility will help victims of both physical and sexual abuse in DeSoto County.

The advocacy center is the first in DeSoto County.

Legal clinic coming to North Mississippi

Legal clinic coming to North Mississippi

A free legal clinic is coming the North Mississippi.

It is happening April 16 in Hernando at the DeSoto County Courthouse.

The clinic will help low income people with divorces, child support or custody cases, name changes and other similar cases.

It starts at 4 p.m. in the afternoon.

Participation does have income requirements. If you want to be a part call 601-960-9577 ahead of time to register.

The project is a cooperative effort by the University of Mississippi School of Law, the Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project, the DeSoto County Bar, and the DeSoto County Chancery Court.

North Mississippi congressman to hold town hall meeting

U.S. Congressman Alan Nunnelee of Mississippi is holding a town hall meeting Thursday.

He wants to hear from his constituents in North Mississippi.

The meeting is at Olive Branch Municipal Court Room on 6900 Highland Street from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

'Taste of DeSoto' serves up county's best food

'Taste of DeSoto' serves up county's best food

Many toured some of DeSoto County's best food in just thirty minutes, with the event, "Taste of DeSoto" Tuesday.

The event, held at Southaven's Landers Center, had samples of many restaurants around DeSoto  county area including The Boiling Point, Memphis Barbecue Co., Hernando's Blue Daze, Mesquite Chop House, Wise Guys, and many more.

The event benefited Love Works 25:40, which helps to get the homeless back on their feet. "Taste of DeSoto" also benefited Mississippi Children's Services which is partnered with the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi. It provides a compassionate behavioral health and social services to children.

"Taste of DeSoto" is in honor of Tim Mote, a businessman of DeSoto county, who recently underwent liver transplant surgery. 'Taste of DeSoto" honors Mote and the American Liver Foundation by donating a portion to the foundation.
