Southaven to host housing opportunities workshop | Community Spirit
Action News 5 received the following from the city of Southaven...
June is National Homeownership Month, which is a month that is dedicated to increasing the awareness of programs and opportunities that are available to individuals and families to help those who do not own a home achieve the dream of owning a home with no down payment and a low interest rate.
To promote that locally the City of Southaven will be holding a Housing Opportunities Workshop, according to Mayor Greg Davis. Interest rates are very low at this time which causes monthly payments to be less and applicants may also qualify for down payment assistance. Applicants must be credit worthy and have repayment ability to quality for a mortgage loan but credit does not have to be perfect. The City of Southaven is applying for a total of $250,000 Home Buyer Assistance Grant funds from the Home Investment Partnership Grant Program from the Mississippi Development Authority.
Greg Davis, the Mayor of Southaven said “This is a great opportunity for 8 credit worthy home buyers in Southaven to get a grant for $28,750 each to apply to the down payment on a home of their own in Southaven so we will provide the funds on a first come first served basis”.
The meeting will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, June 17th in the Board Room in City Hall at 8710 Northwest Drive in Southaven to explain the home buyer assistance grant and the mortgage loan process to families interested in buying a home in Southaven. Fred Griffin, the grant administrator will be present to explain the program and answer questions. Qualification forms will be available. Fred Griffin said “We have been successful in leveraging loan funds with Home Buyer Assistance Grants to help many mortgage eligible low to very-low income families obtain the dream of homeownership”.
There is no charge and no obligation to attend the meeting. Funds will be available on a First Come First Served Basis to those in attendance. Since Real Estate Agents and mortgage lenders are vital to buying and selling of homes they are invited to attend in order to better represent their buyers and sellers. For additional information feel free to contact Fred Griffin, grant administrator at 601-898-8620 or at email@example.com.
