City of Southaven, Christmas 2012 | Community Spirit
The City of Southaven is hosting a triology of Holiday events for you and your family. “Southern Lights” is a mystical twilight display beginning Nov. 22. It will run through Dec. 31 (closed Christmas Day). It will be held at Central Park, and you may enter just off Tchulahoma.
Hours of operation are:
- Sunday – Thursday, 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm
- Friday & Saturday, 6:00 pm – 11:00 pm
The cost of admission is $10.00 for cars; $15.00 for vans and hayrides; $25.00 for buses and $5.00 for motorcycles. All proceeds will go to local charitable organizations. There will be over a half million dazzling lights in the holiday exhibits set to a variety of Christmas music. For additional information, you may call Southaven Parks Department at 662-890-PARK.
"Breakfast with Santa"
Mayor Greg Davis and the City of Southaven will host “Breakfast with Santa” this holiday season. This year’s event is sponsored by Zaxby’s, Waste Connections, Inc., Yo’Sweetz, McDonald’s, and Wal Mart. It will be held Saturday, Dec. 1 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Arena at Southaven located at 7360 Highway 51. There is no admission cost, but reservations must be made by Wednesday, November 28th. To make your reservation, you may call 662-393-6939 or 662-280-2489. Pictures with Santa will also be available at no charge.
"Christmas in Toyland"
The City of Southaven’s “Christmas in Toyland” Parade will be held on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012 at 7:00 pm. The parade will begin at First Commercial Drive, north on Highway 51 to Main Street; east on Main Street to Northwest Drive, ending at Southaven Municipal Complex (City Hall).
Entry fees for floats are $20.00; vehicles are $10.00; walking groups are $10.00, and marching bands are free. Deadline to enter is November 29, 2012. Staging is at 5:00 pm, and participants may enter the staging area at Veterans Drive to check in with parade director.
