Starting before the sun came up Wednesday morning, Action News 5 had crews across the Mid-South collecting donations during the annual Holiday Food Drive that hit six different locations this year.
As it is every year, it has been the generosity of the Mid-South that makes the drive benefiting the Mid-South Food Bank so successful.
Many charitable and thoughtful people came out to donate, including the little angel pictured above. She stopped by the Walmart on Highway 64 in Bartlett.
Action News 5’s own Dave Brown was also at the Bartlett WalMart location. Local eatery Uncle Lou's Fried Chicken gave away free gift certificates for a donation to the Mid-South Food Bank.
Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell stopped by the Memphis Food Bank in Midtown to donate and help out.
“So this is - this time of year - particularly this time of year is just a wonderful time to highlight that generosity, and to let those people who are in need know that they are here to help and do what we can,” said Luttrell.
Action News 5 Reporter Jerica Phillips was out in Germantown when Paragon National Bank made a $14,200 money donation.
According to the Mid-South Food Bank, about 21,000 different people receive emergency food assistance in any given week.

Naval reserve officers at the Covington Kroger made a huge donation, they were a couple of many who were generous to those in need.
