Domestic violence leads to arson

Horn Lake police say a woman is recovering after she was stabbed by her boyfriend who then set their home on fire.

Police say the woman was attacked Wednesday morning inside her home in the 5000 block of Fleetwood off Nail Road. The woman was able to run to a store down the street and call police.

The house was on fire when police went to the he home and the man refused to leave.

Armed man robs Southaven jewelry store

Southaven police are looking for the armed thief that held up a jewelry store Saturday afternoon.

The masked man robbed employees at the Zales Jewelry Store, 6494 Towne Center Loop, just before 1 p.m. on October 1. Witnesses say the man was wearing dark jeans, a dark shirt, white tennis shoes and had a stocking mask covering his face. They say the crook is a black man about 5-feet-6-inches tall and weighs between 160 and 170 pounds.

Southaven police arrest 3 in counterfeit crackdown

(WMC-TV) - Investigators in Southaven are searching for clues in a counterfeit crackdown that has already landed several suspects in hot water.

Monday, Southaven police said two men had been charged with possession of counterfeit merchandise.

According to Lt. Mark Little, officers arrested the pair after they recovered thousands of pairs of fake Nike shoes.

"There were 1,126 pairs of shoes," Little said. "There were 30 something polo shirts, a couple of counterfeit bags, coaches, Louis Vuitton and some shorts made by Polo."

Perps try to rob undercover police officers in Southaven

(WMC-TV) - Several suspects are behind bars after they turned the tables on Southaven police officers trying to conduct an undercover sting.

The arrest of 18-year-old Martise Antoine Calcote and two other juveniles was not surprising to Jerry Ferguson.

"It just seems like young kids nowadays don't understand consequences for their actions," Ferguson said Tuesday.

Husband defends wife accused of providing illegal piercings

(WMC-TV) - The husband of a woman arrested for giving illegal piercings to students near a Southaven high school defended her actions and explained why it happened.

Friday, police announced the arrests of Regina Clanton, 34, and her husband, Gary Clanton, 42.

According to investigators, police were alerted to the illegal piercing operation after the mother of a 15-year-old Southaven High School student complained.  The student allegedly received a piercing from Regina Clanton, and then posted a picture online.

"I know a lot of people don't think this is a big deal, what they don't understand is the seriousness of an infection," said Lt. Mark Little with Southaven Police.

There is no indication the 15-year-old's piercing got infected.

He's best known for his 90's record "Penicillin on Wax," but after a recent conviction for scamming a woman out of about $20,000, it might be a long time before Tim Dog returns to the music business.

Here's a quote from the DeSoto Times Tribune:

"Timothy Blair or Tim Dog as he is more commonly known has been allegedly involved in numerous financial scams around the world and was convicted for the first time in DeSoto County."

A Southaven woman told prosecutors that Blair swindled her out of the money after convincing her to invest in his record label.
