A Southaven man is accused of statutory rape after he and a woman allegedly had sex with a 14-year-old girl earlier this spring.

The Swifton, Ark., teen told police the woman drove her to Memphis after offering to take her shopping and to the zoo. However, instead they went to the Knights Inn on Airways.

"Fight club" videos growing in popularity, police say

(WMC-TV) - Video posted earlier this week to YouTube shows a brutal fight between teens in what is allegedly a Horn Lake parking lot.

The video shows teens brutally punching each other until one of the teens falls on the ground. It was posted by a YouTube user who has uploaded other videos from Horn Lake.

Thursday, Action News 5 asked Lt. Scott Evans of the Horn Lake Police Department what he thought of the video.

Convicted thief charged with string of bank robberies

A Chattanooga man is facing federal charges for a series of bank robberies, including the December holdup of a SunTrust bank in Horn Lake.

Investigators say Jasper Wagner walked into the SunTrust inside the Kroger store at 7251 Interstate Blvd. around 10:35 a.m. on Dec. 13. Witnesses say he handed a bank teller a note demanding cash and ultimately got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

Drugs, threats get police called to school

DeSoto Central High School leaders called police after students overhead at least one of their classmates making threatening remarks Thursday morning. Officers scoured the campus for weapons, but ended up finding drug paraphernalia instead.

“I am proud of the fact our students feel comfortable talking to school authorities,” said Cory Uselton, the school’s principal. “The eyes and ears of our students are the best security system we have.”

Police: Children taken from mother’s meth lab

Horn Lake firefighters decontaminated three children after they were exposed to dangerous chemicals from a meth lab run by their mom and an uncle, police said.

The children, a 9, 14 and 16-year-old, were taken from the home in the 3000 block of Greenway Monday and placed with other family members.

Officers say they were watching the home when they spotted Jennifer Hirsch, the children’s mother, and their uncle, Robert Hirsch, making methamphetamine on their back porch. Police say they found a previously used meth lab and chemicals used to make the drug inside the house.

A number of financial and commercial institutions are informing customers that they have suffered a breach of customers’ privacy in what is believed to be one of the most widespread cases in history, according to Reuters News Agency.

Among those affected are clients of Citigroup and other large U.S. companies, including Walgreens, TiVo, Capital One, Hilton Hotel Group, Target, teleshopping company HSN, several of the nation's largest banks, as well as millions of college-bound students who accessed College Board, which administers SAT admissions exams.
