Barbecue contest to help county Shriners | Events
(WMC-TV) – The DeSoto Shrine Club is hosting a barbecue cook off and carnival this weekend.
The event, which raises money for the club, will also feature a car show, arts and crafts and concerts.
The barbecue cooking contest is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society. However, that doesn’t mean that only Kansas City-style barbecue will be served.
“KCBS judges are trained in a manner that allows them to appropriately judge all types of barbeque, from St. Louis and Texas styles to Memphis and Carolina styles,” according to the group’s website. “Our contests are held in every region of the country, and as a result receive the same fair, unbiased, trained judging process.”
The cook off and festival will be held June 15 and June 16 at 2888 Gwynn Rd. in Hernando.
