FCA Hosts Kids' Christmas Soccer Camp

Realpro Soccer Programs & Fellowship of Christian Athletes are hosting a fun skills & technique soccer camp from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. on December 27, 28, and 29 at Dulins Sports Complex.  Kids ages five and older are invited with no minimum skill level required.

The camp will be indoors and directed by Ross Paule, FCA Soccer National Director & former Major League soccer star.  He will lead a staff of coaches, focusing on the whole person- the physical as well as mental & spiritual aspect of the campers' life.

Parents will get to enjoy a 30-minute talk from guest speaker & U.S. Soccer Hall of Famer Kyle Rote, Jr.

Cost is $60 for the three-day camp.  All proceeds benefit FCA Soccer Ministries & are 100 percent tax deductible.

It's going to be a jolly event in Holly Springs on Saturday, December 1st.

The "Holly Jolly Holly Springs Christmas Parade" will wind through the streets of the square, spreading holiday cheer to kick off a festive month.

It wouldn't be a Christmas Parade without St. Nick, and kids young and old will have a chance to get an up close & personal glimpse as he presides over the fun.

Southaven baseball players sign with area universities

Baseball will likely continue after high school for a handful of Southaven players.

Four student athletes signed with are NCAA Division 1 schools on Wednesday.

Pitcher Nolan Blackwood committed to the University of Memphis.

Catcher Henri Lartigue and pitcher Wyatt Short both signed with Ole Miss.

Vance Tatum, a left-handed pitcher, committed to Mississippi State University.

Since childhood, each of the four young men competed with and against each other.

In addition to the student athletes’ success on the field, their principal said it matches their work in the classroom.

“They are gifted athletes, great kids and students. I have no doubt they are going to be successful on the next playing level and in life,” said Southaven High School Principal Shane Jones.

Jones predicted all of the athletes would graduate with honors.

I-269 Regional Vision Study meetings to be held

(WMC-TV) – The Memphis Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) will be holding the second, and final round of public meetings concerning the new Interstate 269, now under construction.

During the meetings, discussion will focus on the impact of land usage, as well as transportation alternatives that may exist along the corridor of I-269.

A comment draft study meeting will first take place Nov. 27 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn & Suites near Wolfchase Galleria.

A second meeting, at which the final study will be presented for review, will be held Dec. 13 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., also held at the Holiday Inn & Suites near Wolfchase.

"Annie" Coming to Landers Center

Regardless of the forecast, the sun will come out tomorrow as the DeSoto Family Theatre presents the musical "Annie" at the Landers Center in Southaven, Mississippi.

The loveable redhead hits the stage with her furry mutt Sandy, Daddy Warbucks and of course, the not-so-nice Miss Hannigan!

The show runs from November 30th through December 9th.
