Men's Wearhouse collecting suits for job seekers

(WMC-TV) - One area store is teaming up with a local organization to give unemployed men and women a boost of motivation during their interviews.

Men’s Wearhouse stores across the country, including the store in Southaven, are collecting gently worn professional attire for men and women.

Department store offers free haircuts for kids

(WMC-TV) - With children across the city preparing to start school next week a local department store is doing its part to make the preparation process a little easier for parents.

JCPenney is giving free haircuts to children in Kindergarten through 6th grade. According to the store’s website, the haircuts will be available the entire month of August at most locations while appointments last.

Parents are encouraged to call their local store and schedule an appointment.

Safety City set to open in Southaven

(WMC-TV) – Southaven wants to help the city’s kids stay safe at home and as they’re out with parents.

Safety City, which will teach kids fire and bicycle safety, how to avoid strangers and how to safely buckle up, is in its 13th year.

Cub Scouts ready for fun

(WMC-TV) – Scouts from around the area will get together for a fun-filled Saturday next week in Southaven.

The inaugural Cub Scout Pack 509 Fun Day will feature food, crafts and games.

The City of Southaven will host its annual July Fourth Celebration this year at Snowden Grove Park Amphitheater on Wednesday, July 4.

This year’s entertainment will include performances by Life Fellowship Church and Cornerstone Church.

Barbecue contest to help county Shriners

Barbecue contest to help county Shriners

(WMC-TV) – The DeSoto Shrine Club is hosting a barbecue cook off and carnival this weekend.

The event, which raises money for the club, will also feature a car show, arts and crafts and concerts.

The barbecue cooking contest is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society. However, that doesn’t mean that only Kansas City-style barbecue will be served.
