Southaven mayor accused of big tipping on tax payer dime | News
(WMC-TV) - There are new revelations about Southaven Mayor Greg Davis's spending habits, including sizeable tips on the city's dime at more than one restaurant.
Depending on the service, many of us tip up to 20 percent or so, not Davis. Not according to receipts currently under review.
There seem to be new revelations daily about Davis from how much city money he's spent, to his sexuality.
Kim Key, of Southaven, said she supported Davis in the past, but may not vote for him again in the wake of a criminal investigation and a recent demand by the state auditor to pay back $170,000.
"I care about how he spends my hard-earned taxpayer money," she said.
Now there is new information about how much Davis spent on tips at restaurants including Mesquite Chophouse in Southaven.
Receipts currently under review reveal Davis left a $100 tip for a $38 dinner one night last summer. He later bought a $37 round of beers at the restaurant and tipped another $100.
A separate dinner, at Mint The Restaurant in Ridgeland, MS, reportedly included a $1,000 tip on a $2,500 bill for a meal that included two bottles of wine that cost $415 apiece.
Neither restaurant where Davis left BIG tips wanted to comment.
Davis responded to an Action News 5 email today, but only said he was unable to speak to the press until the investigation was done.
