Over 30 Mid-South soldiers to receive oath of enlistment | News
(WMC-TV)- Soldiers all over the Mid-South are not only preparing for 237th birthday of the Army but also the enlistment of future soldiers. Over 30 Memphis area soldiers will receive their oath of enlistment during a celebration concert at Snowden Grove.
Two-hundred and thirty-seven years ago, the Continental Army was established. This army started a heritage of defending this country and its citizens. Now this military group is celebrating the continued work of its soldiers.
During the cutting of the birthday cake at this celebration the Army plans to honor a tradition with the oldest soldier and the youngest soldier cutting the cake together into three pieces, with the first piece going to the guest of honor, the second to the oldest soldier and the third to the youngest soldier.
This event will take place tomorrow and it’s open to the public.
