Burn ban set to expire this week
(WMC-TV) - Thanks to scattered rain recently around the area, DeSoto County will let its burn ban expire Thursday, according to The DeSoto Times Tribune.
The burn ban will be lifted at midnight Thursday, according to the paper, and people will be able to apply for burn permits beginning at 8 a.m. Friday.
However, lifting the ban doesn't mean the county isn't suffering from the drought, the paper says.
The Mid-South region is still between 13 and 14 inches below normal rainfall amounts. More than 35 states have been affected by one of the worst droughts to affect the nation.
