Evening of Elegance

Bellevue Baptist Church invites you to "A Night at the Movies" at 7:00 p.m. in the church Fellowship Hall. The evening will feature music and video clips from some of the greatest cinematic composers of our time with the Bellevue Sanctuary Orchestra. Also, the premiere Josh Stewart's original composition for chorale and orchestra will be presented. Come enjoy this wonderful evening of music at Bellevue!

Dinosaurs coming to Memphis Zoo

This spring the Memphis Zoo opens an all new exhibit featuring Dinosaurs.

The exhibit will have 15 animatronic creatures.

This attraction will be open March 10 through July 8, 2012.

The Memphis Zoo is partnering with a company that has done this exhibit around the country from San Diego to St. Louis.

The Zoo president says this may sound familiar, but technology is taking the exhibit to a whole new level.

"Many people may remember the dinosaur exhibit the Memphis Zoo had in the 90s," said Dr. Chuck Brady, Memphis Zoo President and CEO.

Transformations would like to announce “Dine Out For Autism” event, scheduled Tuesday, September 27 and Thursday, September 29, 2011″ Proceeds from this event will help fund our scholarship program to provide free services to children affected by ASD. ACLU leads student meeting

On September 27, at 6 p.m., students and parents are encouraged to attend the “Student Empowerment- Know your Rights Meeting” at the M.R. Dye Public Library in Horn Lake.

The event is sponsored by the American Civil Liberties Union of Mississippi and the Mississippi Immigrants Rights Alliance and will teach students how to be their own advocates both in school and their communities.

Independent School Fair

Parents considering an independent school for their children can attend a event next week to help with the decision. The Memphis Association of Independent Schools Fair is planned for Monday, September 19th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. The event will be held at the Hilton Hotel at 939 Ridge Lake Boulevard in Memphis. 24 different independent schools will be represented at the fair. It's a chance for parents to learn more about what each school has to offer from student-teacher ratios to financial assistance.

Golf tournament benefits Special Olympics

The 6th Annual Special Olympics Golf Tournament will be held at Northcreek Golfers' Club on September 23.

This fundraiser benefits Area 16 (Desoto, Tunica, Quitman, Coahoma and Tate) special athletes directly in providing equipment, t-shirts, transportation to state games, lunches for basketball tournaments and much, much more.
