The Landers Center in Southaven is now the home of the Tallest flag pole in the Mid-South and the entire state of Mississippi.
The installation fulfilled a promise made by Landers Auto Group President Kent Ritchey back in January, when the Landers Auto Group entered into a partnership for the naming rights of the DeSoto Civic Center to the Landers Center.
At that time, the patriotic Ritchey declared, "I am an unabashed, unapologetic American. I love the flag and what it stands for. Whatever the state will let us put up next to that interstate is what we're going to do."

•- Flagpole is 30 inches in diameter at the base
•- Flagpole has 5 sections that slide together
•- Flagpole is 196 feet in overall length before assembly
•- Flagpole Gold Ball is 18 Inches in Diameter
•- Flagpole Ground Sleeve hole is 8 feet wide and 16 feet deep
•- Flagpole Ground Sleeve is secured by 16 yards of concrete
•- Flagpole base rests 16 feet deep in the ground
•- Flagpole height is approximately 164 feet above ground level
•- Flagpole has an Electric Winch to help raise and lower over 250 lbs of material
•- The American flag is specially made and sewn to withstand very high winds
•- The American flag is 30 tall x 60 feet wide and weighs 48 lbs
•- The American flag will be illuminated by three 1,500-watt stadium lights
The new flag pole is located at the Landers Center campus on Church road and Interstate 55.
A formal dedication will be held at a later date.
