New Firehouse Subs to open

Another restaurant is opening on Union Avenue in Midtown Memphis. Firehouse Subs will be the latest restaurant to call Midtown home. 

Firehouse Subs is planning to be open by mid-July in the same shopping center as FedEx Office and Verizon Wireless. The space is currently being leased by FedEx Office and will undergo renovations to split the current FedEx Office store into two spaces.

Firehouse Subs has a fast casual restaurant concept.  This will be the sixth Firehouse Subs to open in the Memphis area.  The Union Avenue location will join locations in East Memphis, Germantown, Collierville, on Stage Road in Memphis, and Southaven, Mississippi.

Huey's holds burger design contest

May is National Burger Month, and in celebration, Huey’s will be holding its first Design the Next Huey Burger Contest through May 31, 2013.

This contest is open to everyone in the Memphis community, and the winner will receive a $50.00 Huey’s gift card and a chance for the winning burger to be featured on the Huey’s Fall Specials menu.

All entries must use the traditional Huey’s 5 1/3 oz. patty, seasoned with Huey’s seasoning. Burgers must be designed using a bread style that Huey’s currently carries: sesame seed bun, wheat bun, sourdough bun, Kaiser roll, wheat berry bread, wheat toast, Texas toast, hoagie roll, marble rye, or croissant. Entries must use either French’s mustard or Cattleman’s BBQ sauce. Recipes must include specific measurements, cooking instructions, and layering techniques. The burger must have a name.

All burger entries should be emailed to Shannon Little at slittle@hueys.cc by May 31st . Judging will be based on taste and creativity.

Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken expanding to N. MS

Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken is spreading its wings and expanding.

Wendy and Matt McCrory, owners of the Downtown and Collierville locations, have purchased franchising rights from the Bonner family - the founders of the locally famous restaurant.

There are currently five locations in the Memphis area and one in Nashville with plans for stores in Little Rock, Austin, Texas and Southaven.

Chick-fil-a to host 'Safe Kid's Night'

Kids have the chance to prepare for a safe summer at Chick-fil-A Kid's Night this Tuesday, April 16.

Southaven police will conduct Safe Kids Finger Printing at Chick-fil-A Southaven.

Ms. Nettie will also be assisting children in making police puppets.

From 6 to 8 p.m., kids eat free with the purchase of every combo meal while participating in the Safe Kids events.

This is exclusive to Chick-fil-A Southaven located at 235 Goodman Road.

'Taste of DeSoto' serves up county's best food

'Taste of DeSoto' serves up county's best food

Many toured some of DeSoto County's best food in just thirty minutes, with the event, "Taste of DeSoto" Tuesday.

The event, held at Southaven's Landers Center, had samples of many restaurants around DeSoto  county area including The Boiling Point, Memphis Barbecue Co., Hernando's Blue Daze, Mesquite Chop House, Wise Guys, and many more.

The event benefited Love Works 25:40, which helps to get the homeless back on their feet. "Taste of DeSoto" also benefited Mississippi Children's Services which is partnered with the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi. It provides a compassionate behavioral health and social services to children.

"Taste of DeSoto" is in honor of Tim Mote, a businessman of DeSoto county, who recently underwent liver transplant surgery. 'Taste of DeSoto" honors Mote and the American Liver Foundation by donating a portion to the foundation.

Chick-fil-A hosts spring kids' night

March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb, and Chick-fil-A Southaven is welcoming March as it finally begins to feel like spring with a special story Kid's Night.

Tuesday, March 19 from 6-8 p.m., kids will enjoy a spring story along with making flower pots and butterflies with their parents.

Remember, kids eat free with the purchase of every combo meal.

This is exclusive to Chick-fil-A Southaven located at 235 Goodman Road.

So welcome Spring with stories, arts and crafts, and free food, this Tuesday at Chick-fil-A Southaven.

There is a new addition coming to Chick-fil-A Southaven Kids' Night this Tuesday...the Grizzlies Grannies and Grandpas!

This Tuesday, in addition to family game night, you will enjoy a performance by the Grizzlies Grannies and Grandpas and get a chance to win a pair of Grizzlies tickets.

It is all happening this Tuesday, March 5, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Chick-fil-A on 235 Goodman Road.

Kids will enjoy games with their parents and eat free with the purchase of every combo meal.
